Our Modern Pink Video Shoot

As promised, here are photos from our video shoot!  We worked with GeoBeats to create this fun and beautiful little dessert table to demonstrate our business.  A great many thanks to Lesley of Malapit Design for gorgeously documenting this experience.
Enjoy!

We pulled together this dessert table almost overnight, with items we had on hand in the shop. Almost no budget!

Here's Bonnie, adjusting everything to perfection

After The Video Shoot: A Trip to Dolcissimo and Dripp

My sister from Scotland hung out with Bonnie and I during our video shoot to photograph our crazy antics and document the visit.  Afterward, she and I went to Dolcissimo for some mouth-watering french macarons and Dripp for some iced coffee.

After getting a nice box for ourselves, we headed next door to Dripp for coffee.  I absolutely love the interior to this place.  It's got an Industrial Revolution Vintage thing going on that I am crazy for.  I noticed some light fixtures and furniture (especially the aviator-inspired lounge chair) were from Restoration Hardware.  I loved how it worked in that space.  Here is a photo of the cafe from outside.

A great way to end a long day of video shooting

mmmm.... chocolate, buttercream, and pistachio!

Gorgeous Greens

These photos just came in from one of our customers.  It really brightens my day to see our work on a gorgeous wedding cake.  Thanks you guys for choosing us to help celebrate your special day, you make a great couple!

Our Video Shoot!

A while back we were contacted by GeoBeats to do a special tutorial for their wedding series.  At the last minute and with an almost zero budget, we put together a little dessert table for our background.  We used a few sugar flowers, cupcakes with cupcake toppers, paper tags, paper cupcake toppers, and some water bottle labels.  Here's a sneak peek of what we did.  More photos and details to come!

Our Christmas Collection is here!

We're gearing up for the winter season with these little sugar decorations for your cupcakes.  We spent the afternoon thinking up some ideas to dress up Christmas desserts and had a lot of fun messing around with the fondant.  I really love that part of my day; just listening to Christmas music, imagining all the creative Christmas party themes out there and creating cupcake toppers to match them.  The next day, we had the photoshoot.  Hope you like these:

Could you imagine these on some hot chocolate cupcakes? Available here

These would look wonderful on cupcakes for a children's school party

I'm trying to find any reason to use pink and gold.  I love them as holly and berries.

The monogram on these ornaments are great for birthdays or Winter bridal showers

Again pink and gold! I need to make a dessert table with these!!!  Get any of these decorations here

Vanilla Sunshine Cupcakes!

My brother surprised me last week with a bakery box filled with yummy smelling cupcakes from the new Vanilla Sunshine Cupcakery.  I was absolutely in love!  The cake was moist and flavorful and the frosting was surprisingly fluffy light but it had just enough sweet to satisfy me.  I know of some places that use heavy sugary frosting or a buttercream that's a little too buttery but this place definitely knew how to balance everything that goes into a frosting.  This was just perfect.
Let's see if I can remember what I had:
-Red Velvet
-Cappuccino (it had a coffee-like flavor and creamy caramel frosting)
-Vanilla
-Chocolate
-Pumpkin

I was glad to see that Claremont (here in California) finally had a cupcakery so naturally I wanted to give it all of my support.  I was also astonished to find out that Bonnie's family did the glass work for the cupcakery's counters.

If you are in the Inland Empire, I suggest you stop by the Vanilla Sunshine Cupcakery.  You'll leave with a smile on your face.

It's Autumn, and it's Awesome

And we're back!  I know I keep saying this over and over but... it's been crazy over here at the shop.  We're not snobs or anything, and I'm not saying that this is more important than you (as if we thought, 'you have no importance in our lives').  No! I've been DYING to get back to blogging pretty things here.  Let's start off with the latest news.  Since we moved into our office in Chino, we've been so busy with orders that we've skipped out on interior design.  Our foyer just had a plain little couch (which is tremendously comfy for break time!) and TV.  Our walls were bare white and boring.  You'd never know we were in the party business.  As of right now, I am putting together a little color scheme to brighten up our office.  But lo! We have some parameters!  Our foyer is shared with another business owner so we couldn't really throw pink all over the place (it has to look both professional and a little masculine) AND we have to spend as little money as possible on it.  So I scrounged together a bunch of things I had around the house and raided Pinterest for DIY design inspiration.  We also had a lot of stuff from events we did this year so we'll be using those as well.  So far I've spent only about $11 in gold cardstock, gold spray paint and hot pink paint samples.  I can't wait to finish it and show you.

A Zombie Apocalypse Dessert Table

Thought I'd share a few things I put together over the Halloween season.  It's a little unorthodox I'll admit.  It absolutely reeks of nerdiness that's for sure.  This dessert table's inspiration was taken from zombie video games like Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead and movies like Zombieland and Night of The Living Dead to the latest season of Walking Dead.   The next few photos are a little bloody.  Hope you're not too faint of heart!
These medicine cabinets were from IKEA.  The herbs sitting inside are an homage to herbs from the video game Resident Evil (RE).  According to RE, each color heals you from certain ailments.  For example, the green herbs restore health.  Sitting inside these cabinets are delicious (low alcohol!) jello shots.
If you play Left 4 Dead, you'll find these 'pills' in certain areas around the game.  The pills I got for this party are York Peppermint Patty Pieces.  They worked beautifully for this.  Read the pill bottle.  It's not your average pill bottle.
I just needed another reason to coordinate water bottles with this party.  This dessert table IS a first aid station after all.
Made sure to include a few screen shots from the Resident Evil game to give guests a hint about the video game reference.
Brraiiinnnsss.... (I picked these gummy ones up from Target).  We made the blood using corn syrup and red dye.
